All Things Girlie! Vintage Flower Tutorial

My friend JoLinn taught me how to make vintage flowers and I thought you all might like to find out too! You’ll die to find out how easy they are to make!

First you need to get some satin-y fabric. (It is even available at Wal-Mart, and you don’t need much. Less than 1/8th of a yard.)

Next, you need to cut them in differing sizes of circles.

You need to make sure that the circles are different enough sizes that they will fit inside each other.

Next, get a lighter and burn the edges carefully. Be careful not to burn yourself.

As the flame hits the fabric, it will start to create a brim on the edge of the circle.

Lastly, layer the circles on top of each other and hot glue them together. JoLinn actually made the flower in the picture below. Soooo cute, huh!?! I love how she glued two beads in the center, and then she even put a piece of netting on the bottom with a clip. I’ve even seen some darling ones with off white fabric and pearls.

To see the same concept used on a pillow, go to THIS post.

  1. Our Walmart took out ALL of their fabric…can you believe it!! And we only have one fabric store here. 🙁 I love your site by the way!

  2. Our Walmart too- fabric is gone. Luckily I have plenty of places to buy fabric- but it was my go to for the cheap stuff to experiment with! I need to try these!

  3. I love to make those as well! I sew mine together, and do lots of beads as well. If I'm attaching them to a bobby pink I'll sew the bobby pin to some felt, then glue the felt to the bottom of the flower. They're so fun!
