Reupholstered Tufted Ottoman

Remember my tufted ottoman post about a year ago? Well, since my three kids turned it into a washcloth for Ragu sauce, it has sat in my garage waiting for attention.

When I chose the original turquoise (yes it looks white, but it is actually turquoise) fabric, the lady at Calico Corner raved about how “stain resistant” it was, so I spent extra. Lesson learned….NEVER spend $20.00 a yard on ANY fabric. My kids had honestly ruined the newly upholstered ottoman within two or three months. Man have I learned a lot in the last year! Lesson number two learned…Home Fabrics rocks, and ever since a friend introduced me to it, it is hard to shop anywhere else. Home Fabrics carries the same fabric as Calico Corner and it is $12.99 or LESS a yard.

So, when the pressure came to clean out the garage…I made the change. I love this fabric that I got from JoAnn’s on super-duper clearance. I do not know the name or the sku, sorry in advance for that one.

The pictures are a little dark since I took these at night, but hopefully you get the idea. I moved my rug into the entryway because sitting a patterned ottoman onto a patterned rug is not usually eye-appealing in my opinion. Sometimes I just need a change, and removing the rug and adding the ottoman was just what I needed.

I love the large pattern on the fabric! I also re-tufted the bad boy, and if you look closely you will see the buttons.

Change is good!

  1. That just completely changed the entire look of your ottoman! It looks great in the room. It coordinates perfectly!

I love Home Fabrics. I've found fabric there for less than $4 a yard. Might as well buy as much as they have at that price!

  2. Very pretty! I really like your entertainment center. We just have a tv stand and I've been wanting to have something that's a bit higher so my daughter doesn't hit the tv. Any cheap suggestions?

  5. I love this!! It looks so great in that room. Good job!! I'd love to find a piece of furniture to reupholster sometime soon. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Looks good. Keep in mind that just because something has buttons doesn’t mean that it is tufted. Tufting involves deep buttons with folds in the fabric usually in a dimond shape. Some patterns are sewn in. Others done by hand. This ottoman is not tufted, it just has buttons.
