30th Birthday Party

Bless my husband’s heart. He threw me a rockin’ 30th birthday bash this weekend! What a trooper. He needed my help to make the invitations, so I helped out. šŸ™‚

We had a karaoke party. It was hilarious. I sat there and laughed all night long.

Some of my favorite songs that were sung:
Vanilla Ice Ice, Ice, Baby
Salt-N-Pepa Shoop
Justin Beiber Baby, Baby
Beyonce Single Ladies
Ahhhh man, honestly the whole night was awesome!!! I laughed until I cried.

I have to admit, turning thirty was a bit of a bummer for me. I felt bad for myself all day. I finally left and went to D.I. to try and cheer myself up. Ha ha. Only a select few would say that D.I. (Utah’s version of Goodwill) would “cheer” you up! I’ll get over it, but I didn’t want to be 30. My hubby was cute and told me it was ok that I felt like that. I’m glad he was nice about it. I felt silly because he had done all this work to celebrate and all I wanted to do was crawl in the tub and loath in my oldness. Ok, I’m exaggerating, but it was a bit weird for me. Was it hard for you to turn thirty? Or do you think it will be when you do?

My cute friends made me this cute “thirty sucks” gift. How cute is that!

Once again, only my friends would know that giving me “D.I. dollars” would make me giddy!

And my cute sister in law made me this rockin’ cake. She is freakin’ amazing.

I’m working on some fun projects, and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on. I picked up some amazing finds in Las Vegas the other day. I love thrift shopping in Vegas. It is only about 1 1/2 hours from where I live! YAY! My garage is about to burst with projects.

  1. Hubby's are the best, aren't they?

I honestly can't relate…my 30th was my best birthday ever! lol Hubby threw me a huge party, dripping with pink (one of my fav colours) and filled, literally, with Barbie balloons!

I always say, celebrate every birthday, every year. It is a day that will never ever happen again. It's a celebration of the day you joined the world and should be celebrated! I don't know about you, but I think I'm pretty stinkin' awesome so I embrace every birthday I have šŸ™‚

  2. I recently turned 30 (I say that, but actually it's been 2 months now — where does the time go?)
I was a bit "eh" for a few days when I turned 30 not because of the mere advent of that particular birthday – obviously I knew that it was going to happen; it was that I suppose I hadn't reached the milestones that I had for some reason simply assumed that I thought I would have at thirty (husband, a child or two, etc.). When I really stepped back and thought about it, though, I realized how looking at it that way was foolish – I have so many things that I never imagined for myself that have little to do with society's presumptions, that if I don't celebrate for myself will be a missed opportunity in gratitude and will rob myself of so much. I own a home, on my own, I answer to no husband or parents, I go to graduate school and have a very interesting life and am embarking on a career that is never dull – why we put so much mythical power on this "30" number I don't know.

I was so much more uptight in my 20s than I am now; that much I know for certain. I can breathe easier and feel confident in a way I couldn't then, and for that I am grateful. I know that my girlfriends who are just now entering into this same decade feel the same way, and now that they have gotten over the shock we agree on these two points – not only do we feel better about ourselves, we know for certain that we do in fact, because of that, possess some magical, mystical sexiness (I think it is akin to the apathy that men have in their toolboxes at all times) and finally, we wouldn't go back in time if you paid us.

Welcome. By this time next week you'll love it, I promise.

  4. Happy Birthday Brooke! I am still in denial about being 31. . . almost 32. Yikes! I still feel like I am 15. I am glad you chose to celebrate it šŸ™‚ Sounds like fun!

  5. I'm 29 this year and will be walking across the graduation stage only days after my 30th birthday (providing this next year goes according to plan. lol) I hope I don't feel too bummed on the day, but judging by how difficult 29 was, I'm thinking it won't be my favorite day ever. I hope hubby throws me as fun a party as you had! šŸ™‚

  6. Happy Birthday Brooke! Seriously we have so much in common. I'm turning 30 in a few months, we both recently had our 4th kid, both RS activity leader, what else? We MUST meet soon!

Glad you had a good birthday!

    Love ya,
    Tam

  7. Enjoy your birthday and all that you've accomplished. Look at your beautiful family and remember you needed each and every year to happen in order to have them. I'm facing 40 but wouldn't go back. Yes there's ups and downs, but life really does get better.

  8. What?! Your cute hubby forgot to invite a few people!! You would have had some more mean karoke competition. I'm SO glad you had an incredible day, you deserved it!!!!!
