Day 2: Week of Chairs

Week of Chairs
Today’s chair transformation began with a $30.00 chair from the Home Good clearance section. The chair had an amazing shape and a tiny ding out of the corner of the chair. I liked the chair originally, but for this particular project for Jill’s house, I wanted to add color and pizzaz to her dining area by using mismatched chairs. The walls are neutral in the room, and adding color to the chairs is a great way to continue the color pallet in the space.

I primed it with KILZ, sanded it with 220 grit sand paper to remove the gritty texture, and painted the bad boy with Krylon Ocean Breeze in semi-gloss. Then, I glazed the chair to add an antiqued look and give it more character. If you want to see my glazing technique, check out my glazing furniture videos.

  1. This is a very charming chair, great color, finish, and fabric. It would go well with my white writers desk! Or corner nook with a small table and lamp. Lovely transformation.

  2. Sounds like I need to check out Urban Renewal! Awesome fabric. I would love chairs like that for my dining room!
