Habitat for Humanity REVEAL!

brookes_paint_covered_handsI haven’t kept these pictures from you on purpose I promise! The truth is, I was painting and painting and painting on the day of the reveal last Sunday and I didn’t get very many pictures! In fact about ten minutes before the homeowner arrived, I was drying the table with a hair dryer! Painting in the humidity was MUCH different than painting at home in the desert. I smell a tutorial coming up soon.

I love that I’m holding a diet coke in the picture to the left. It’s very fitting for the situation. I was running on 2 hours of sleep.
I’ve been gathering pictures from my fellow bloggers’ sites. I snapped most of the pictures of the room I decorated, but the rest are borrowed from other blogs.

Plus I wanted to show you the entire experience, so I made this fun vlog to show you the fun!

I got to decorate the kitchen and dining room.

Habitat for Humanity KitchenCraft Wars and Worlds Largest Yard Sale 032The bench was one of the best finds in the entire trip! I found it for only $10.00!Habitat for Humanity Kitchen 1  Craft Wars and Worlds Largest Yard Sale 031 kitchen!I wanted a spot in the home where the kids could hang their backpacks and a spot for a calendar to mark the weekly happenings. The kitchen had the perfect wall for a command center. Craft Wars and Worlds Largest Yard Sale 034 Thank you to my sister Adrian for donating one of her classy calendars from her Etsy shop {ADbugDesign} for the cause. She even sent the file to get printed at the local Wal-Mart in Alabama for me.
She rocks like that.

The most touching part of the day was when the kids RAN to hang up their backpacks. I sat there and cried. It was if they were claiming their home as their own. It was as if they were saying, “This is where OUR backpacks go!” Even now when I think about that moment I tear up.

Brittany {aka Pretty Handy Girl} did an amazing job in the living room. Alexia already had a couch set and coffee table, so imagine them in her room. The “hello” is my absolute favorite.
It is made from a 75 cent air hose.

brittanyafter2Donna from Funky Junk decorated the master bedroom with her amazing style. I love her door turned headboard. Alexia already has a mattress, so you will have to imagine it in the room. 🙂OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI loved her chalkboard dresser drawers and her amazing taste shines through.  I loved every single part of her room. donnaafter2 (1) Lindsay from Better After was my partner in crime and decorated Jaydon’s room. It is absolutely DARLING! Lindsay is awesome folks. She knows a lot about me after being in the same vehicle for days and days.  I loved every minute of our talks.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAShe was very thoughtful in all of the choices she made for Jaydon. I loved his chalk board wall. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATraci from Beneath my Heart decorated Jurnei’s girly princess room. Her mantle turned headboard is sooo cute! Lindsay found it, and I was sooo excited, I yelled at her from across the parking lot, “TRACI…COME HERE…HURRY!!” Ha ha.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALeen the Graphics Queen donated the adorable vinyl throughout the house. Cy {Traci‘s Hubby} decorated the bathrooms and did a great job! I loved the faucets turned towel holders! OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Honestly, this experience was incredible. I’m not just saying that either. We carefully chose the items for Alexia and her family. It was so much fun to create a home that we thought she would like. We worked hard. I worked faster than I think I ever have in my entire life. But, it all came together and the looks on their faces were absolutely priceless.
Getting back to real life has been hard too. I miss my friends!

  1. Wow. Everyone did an amazing job and for such a great cause. It is inspiring and heartwarming. I teared up a little reading about the backpacks.

  2. I wasn't even there and I'm all teared up! You guys rock hardcore, and I think you all did an amazing job! I don't know how it goes everywhere, but the HFH houses here are built with the help of the family. I can only imagine how happy they were to have the house decorated to showcase their hard work. 🙂

  3. You rocked it Brooke! What an amazing experience! Thanks for sharing all of the ideas!!

    Happy Weekend!
