Guest Room Series Part 1: The room is reclaimed.

Down came the nursery decor, and the guest room decorating is in full force. I have to admit I couldn’t get rid of the crib yet. What does that mean? I have no idea. Sometimes I wish I could see the future. Plus, my family keeps asking me if we are “done” having kids. I can’t decide if I just want to be done or if we are actually done. So, for the time being, the crib is in our storage unit.  No, this is not an announcement. I am not pregnant, and NO we are not planning to be either. {Maybe that will stop the questions from the family for a bit.}

In other news, we live in paradise. It’s true. I love living in Southern Utah. Our climate is hot in the summer {we don’t mind the heat}, and it’s mild for the rest of the year. I love taking my kids to the park in January.

PLUS, when our family needs to get away from the cold, they come to visit us. We love it.

I’m a firm believer in the “if you built it, they will come” mentality when it comes to guests. If you have a guest room space, visitors are more likely to come. They will feel more comfortable coming if they don’t feel like they are impeding on your family.

We debated about our guest room a few years ago when I had Creedy because we needed a nursery and a guest room. We came up with a plausible solution temporarily, but in the long run, we knew this room would always be our guest room.

Creed is now over 3 years old! WHAT!?! It’s insane how fast that has gone by. So he is now upstairs with his big brother sharing a room {which was our long term plan to begin with}. We also moved the wall bed upstairs too! So, guess what that means?!? We have TWO guest beds now! YEEEHAW!!

Stay tuned for the upcoming projects of the guest room! My vision for the room is pretty awesome.

  1. Great work, Brooke!
    I have undertaken the HUGE task of cleaning out, getting rid of, throwing out and straightening up my entire house and storage building this year! I know what a big task it is to get one room completed! Hurray for you!!! I started this past April and I am now into my sewing room, which is probably the most dis-organized room of my entire house! I have a sweet niece helping me every weekend, as I work full time, as does she. We have made our bond of Aunt & niece even stronger, laughed, gone through major life changes together and really gotten my house in order! I’m cheering you on all the way! Can’t wait to see the end result! Congratulations!

  2. The room looks great! I cannot wait to see what you do with it. What you said about if you have a guest room people will come is so true. My Aunt and Uncle have a whole suite finished in their house in SC for family to stay in when we visit and it is so nice because it is more welcoming and you don’t feel like you are crashing their house for a whole week. We love it and so do they!!!
