Guest Room Reveal!

Friends! The guest room is complete! After we reclaimed the room from the nursery, I started plans for an ultimate guest room that would leave our guests feeling spoiled, relaxed, and welcome. After that, we chose a color scheme, a rug, and decided on a wall mural idea.

I’m pretty passionate about giving guests a great experience that I even wrote a post about over 30 things a guest room needs!  Our guest room isn’t perfect, but it’s a place I’m proud of!

Having a specific place for guests in our home is really important to us. We believe in the “if you build it, they will come” mentality. If you have a place for guests that they don’t feel like they are impeding on your family, they are so much more likely to come. Plus, having a comfortable mattress is super important too. Have you ever slept on a 30-year-old saggy mattress and woke up feeling 90? I turn into a monster if I don’t get sleep, so I’m so excited that our guest room is equipped with a great mattress. The mattress that we have in there right now is ComforPedic iQ from Beautyrest!! It has this cool new Smart Response™ Technology that automatically calibrates to your body’s weight and position for personalized support. Not to mention the Ultra Cool™ Memory Foam which helps maintain a comfortable temperature for cool, comfortable sleep. In our warm southern Utah climate, I have really come to love how well that actually works!! {Que the singing sleep angels!}

The green and white rug was soon converted into a headboard! <—Tutorial coming soon. And the bedding is a bed-in-a-bag set from Target.

The first thing our guests see when they wake up is the fun “put your feet up and stay awhile” wall mural. I used a projector to paint the pattern on the wall.

I wish pictures would do it justice. Because it really is so good in person!

Every guest room needs a full length mirror and this one is a simple BHG door mirror that I painted coral to add a pop of color.

I decided to provide a few essentials in a basket in case our guests forgot something. After all, there is nothing worse than going out of town and realizing you forgot your toothbrush right!?!!

Nightstands are a must in a guest room {any bedroom actually} and ours are from Wal-Mart of all places! They are super stylish and can be found HERE.

The wall paint color is Dolphin Fin by Behr on the top and Wavelength by Kwal on the bottom.

Most of the decor was relocated into the room from around my house, but I originally got most of it from D.I. {Utah’s version of Goodwill} or from HomeGoods. The lamps were from Sam’s Club over a year ago.

Just as a fun walk down memory lane, look at the before pictures!!

  1. I adore that mural! I also keep a stash of grooming/bathroom supplies for my guests & people always tell me how crazy I am. You’re clearly my spirit animal. Ha!

  2. What a bright fresh room!! Love it. and that headboard and the green colour is gorgeous!! I have that target throw too 🙂 Love coral. And I have to know where did you get that little accent pillow on the bed?

  3. I love your room! Do you perhaps remember where you purchased that bedspread from? I just love the crisp white lines!
