DIY Bay Window Curtain Rod

When I chose my house nearly six years ago, the bay windows were one of my favorite things in the house. Then, I couldn’t figure out how to install window treatments. So for five years, the windows sat bare as a baby’s bottom.

One day while wandering the aisles of Home Depot, I found these curtain rod brackets at The Home Depot {no this post is not a sponsored post, but I am using affiliate links, just keeping’ it real}. My bay window problem is solved forever!

All you need for this project is a wooden dowel, the wood corner connectors, wood wall bracketsend finials, and spray paint. I wanted my rods to be oil rubbed bronze, so I used Rust-Oleum’s Oil Rubbed Bronze paint.

It’s so simple. I couldn’t believe I had gone 5 years without curtains for nothing. Thank you Martha Stewart for fixing this problem for us all!

After I painted the rods and brackets with spray paint, we simply placed the rods inside the brackets and screwed them together.

The brackets adjust to whatever angle the bay window is.

If you knew about this, why didn’t you tell me!?! 🙂

  1. Awesome! Now if you could just solve my moon window (half-circle) problem I’d love you forever! I would just put a regular curtain rod over it but the wall is slanted right above it!!!

  2. This is really an easy idea! I just moved here to Toronto. I have my old bay window’s curtain rod’s. I’ll be replacing the windows in this house with new energy efficient windows through Landmark Home Solutions. Once it’s done, I will definitely try this 🙂 If I have any doubts I’ll ping u!
    Keep Writing! 🙂

  3. Just moved to Texas and have a huge Bay window in our Master Bedroom with an East facing window. By 10:00 am it is ten degrees hotter in this room than the rest of the house. I spend the rest of the day trying to cool it enough to go to bed at night. This is an awesome idea. I will be at home depot today. Thanks.

    1. If you don’t carry it in the store, they have them online! I’m finding that more and more stores don’t have them! But they are awesome!
