Kitty Litter Cake

If you have been a follower of All Things Thrifty for any time at all, you will know that Halloween is kinda a big deal! Every year we carve around 80+ pumpkins!! Yes. EIGHTY! Here, let me show you 20112012. 2013, 2014! This has become such a fun tradition and something that we really look forward to  have grown to love! 😉 Anyway, along with this crazy pumpkin carving thing, we throw a fun party! We invite all of our closest friends, have everyone bring their own pumpkins and we eat to our hearts content! We provide the main dish and everyone else brings the goodies! There have been so many fun things! You can see some of them in this round up I did! People are creative! Which brings me to today’s recipe: Kitty Litter Cake! I actually shared it but decided it needed a whole post of it’s own. It is the grossest looking thing on the planet but it actually is really yummy! And relatively easy to make! Just see for yourself….

Here’s a picture of what you’ll need minus the cake ingredients.

This is what your vanilla cookies and green food coloring should look like. Small pieces and slightly speckled!

This was what my yellow cake looked like after I used my hands to crumble it.

Now with the pudding!

And ta-da! Sprinkle on those cookies and add your tootsie rolls! I usually use the long ones but I couldn’t find them which is crazy so I bought some of the miniatures, warmed them up for about 10 secs, rolled them together and made this amazing looking poo! HAHA!

The scoop and pan are both from The Dollar Store and in the past I have also used a plastic tub that looks just like a litter box but I thought this worked just as good.

Kitty Litter Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 Yellow Cake Mix {and the ingredients to make the cake}
  • 1 Chocolate Cake Mix {and the ingredients to make the cake}
  • 1 LG Box of Instant Vanilla Pudding
  • 12-15 Vanilla Cream Filled Cookies
  • Tootsie Rolls
  • Green Food Coloring

Instructions

  1. Make and bake both cakes according to the package.
  2. While the cakes are baking, make your pudding according to the package and set aside.
  3. Next, place you vanilla cookies into a ziplock and smash them. You want this to be pretty fine. Once that is done, add 8-10 drops of green food coloring to the bag and shake. Set this aside.
  4. When your cakes are done and have cooled off, take your yellow cake and using your hands, crumble it into a bowl.
  5. Next, starting with just 1/2 of the chocolate cake, crumble it and mix into vanilla cake.
  6. Using your hands mix together. Add more chocolate cake as you see fit.
  7. Once the cakes are good and crumbled and mixed together, add your pudding.
  8. Mix until completely coated and the mixture is moist.
  9. Spread into your pan/kitty litter box.
  10. Once that is in, sprinkle your crushed cookie mixture on top of that.
  11. Now you can add your tootsie rolls. Sick!! But Delicious!

Well there you have it. What do you think? Are you going to take this to your Halloween party this year? It’s sure to be a hit {or make everyone gag} either one is fun! HAHA!

xoxo

  1. I made a similar cake for Halloween years ago but it ended up almost untouched. People were too grossed out! Sigh. Thank you for your blog, I enjoy reading it a lot!
