This post is sponsored by the Home Depot. Ok, so the do-it-herself project this month has been... well.... a challenge! But let me tell you why! The project itself is darling! However, the Home Depot challenged me and a few friends to use this month's project in a GUEST ROOM.  Why would this be a challenge you ask? It's a large pumpkin.  Lucky for them I am super competitive and love a good … [Read more...]

Double Barn Door used as window treatments

I don't have a perfect place in my house for a barn door. I've been bummed ever since I realized the dream of having a barn door just wasn't doable in our home. All of the sudden my mind hit the jackpot, and I was so excited at the thought of using a barn door on both sides of a window. Double barn doors used as window treatments!?! I thought it was worth a try, and they turned out so great.  We used the same … [Read more...]

I'm always stoked to be asked to join home tours. {Thank you Gina!} The tours are always so fun, in fact I like virtual home tours better than our local parade of homes lately. The builder beige walls make me want to poke my eye with a needle. If that's your favorite though, don't take offense. Summer is in full swing here. My four monsters, perfect kids got out of school before Memorial day, and today was rough. I … [Read more...]

flower bed landscaping project

We are trying our hand at a little flower gardening this year. We ripped out our rocks, installed a soaker hose, and went to town with pay dirt to prepare the flower bed for planting. We definitely aren't experts, and I'm chalking it up as "research" to see how the plants do. I live in Southern Utah where the climate is HOT and mostly dry. We are not 100% sure which plants will thrive and which ones won't survive. But, … [Read more...]

front yard landscaping overhaul

If you are landscaper, I owe you major props. My back aches. My hands hurt, and I now realize that I'm kind of a wuss. For this farm girl, that's hard for me to admit. We started a big project in our front yard. Our neighbors kept driving past, and after waving to us 5 times in a 9 hour timeframe, I'm sure they were thinking, "What the H are they doing!?!?" I have to admit, yesterday was a long day.  Working in the … [Read more...]

Hanging Coral Flower Pots (1 of 7)

This post was sponsored by the BHG Live Better Network. I received compensation from BHG at Walmart. All Opinions are 100% my own. Since I live in Southern Utah where the weather is a smidgen ahead than the majority of the country, our Spring is in full swing. In fact, summer will be here in just a few weeks for us. I love color, and when I saw these awesome coral flower hanging baskets from Walmart, I could not … [Read more...]

Front Porch (6 of 9)

Today, I took Melissa's #lovethehomeyouhave challenge. Specifically I choose "Day 14" and spruced up my front door and porch. In the back of Melissa's new book Love the Home you Have, she gives short challenges to help boost your mood and adoration of your home. I love it! What a fun idea. It's easy to get in a rut and look only at what we dislike about our surroundings. I love how positive the book is, and how easy it … [Read more...]

Bathroom Makeover After (1 of 1)-2

This post and giveaway are sponsored by GE REVEAL®. In case you have missed the last three weeks, let me bring you up to speed. My friends at GE invited me to four #100reveal challenges. So far I have changed the ceiling in our bedroom by adding a geometric design with dowels, I have doodled on our dining room chairs, and I updated our living room to be more "lovely" with roman shades. The Rules: 1. Spend $100 or … [Read more...]

Roman Shades Tutorial

This post and giveaway are sponsored by GE REVEAL®. All opinions are 100% my own. Over the past three weeks, I have been racking my creativity to its core. It has been a blast, and I hope you are having fun following along. If you missed week 1, check out the Master Bedroom Ceiling project that just about put me in the looney bin #mathishard. Then, in week two we reupholstered our dining room chairs and doodled all over … [Read more...]

Coral and Green Living Room Decor (4 of 35)

MY GREAT ROOM IS DONE! I want to sit in there all day. Too bad that can't happen because no Mom on Earth has time for that, right!?! Decorating this room was seriously so much fun. I can't say that it's d.o.n.e. because I'm not that person. I love change, but it's done for a minute. Decorating with rustic touches is one of my favorite ways to add character to any room. In fact, it has been the foundation for our great … [Read more...]
