PLAYGROUND WORKOUT FOR ALL YOU BUSY MOMS!

I’m so thrilled to be a contributor for the gorgeous Brooke! I love her blog and everything she designs and creates. We are pretty much virtual BFF’s! …and I hope I can make some more virtual soul sisters today! My name is Sadie Jane and I am the author of Simply Sadie Jane (www.simplysadiejane.com) real original huh? I am a fitness and lifestyle blogger from the Idaho sticks. From fitness to family and DIY to WIW. I am a Labor and Delivery Nurse turned mother warrior child tamer. (Holla back at me if you can relate!!) I am honored to be a fitness contributor on All Things Thrifty. Especially since, aside from a really good shoe sale and my kids, fitness is my obsession! I found CrossFit back in 2009 and have never looked back! My husband and I created our CrossFit Garage Gym last year and since then, I have been able to tone and continue losing weight, all while being a busy mother. Speaking of busy moms…that is why I am here today! I want to show all you busy moms out there that working out can be done with your schedule. Especially during the summer!

I know what you’re thinking!…’Isn’t it harder to find time by yourself with all the kids at home?’ Think again ladies!! I am going to show you an EXCLUSIVE All Things Thrifty workout that will change your life! …or that’s the goal anyway. I know all you moms out there go to the playground with your kids! I, FOR SURE, hit up the playground at least 3 times a week during the summer months! But, I don’t look for any old playground. I go for the empty elementary school playgrounds that have EVERYTHING I could ask for. No, not for my kids. For my WORKOUT! I know it sounds silly, but I promise you, it’s the best thing that is going to happen to your summer. A. you get the kids out to play. B. you get your workout in. and C. you get to interact with your children while you do it. See these aren’t just ANY playground workouts. They are CROSSFIT INSPIRED, and if you know anything about Crossfit, you know we do a plethora of Olympic Lifting. Instead of hauling a barbell to the playground…why not use a child! It’s a win win for all parties involved! Operation HOT BOD can now commence!

Okay, now that the warm-up is done. How about a fun playground workout!

5 ROUNDS

10 SWING-SET JUMP THROUGHS (I made up most of these names so don’t hate me if they sound lame! I’m taking any and all creative name ideas!) Oh, and if you can’t quite jump through the swing it’s OKAY! Grab onto the chains and assist yourself through that swing! A little assistance never hurt anyone!

1 SIDE-SHUFFLE LINE TOUCH (Sprint between two designated spots. each “back and forth” equals 1) Remember to stay low and keep your knees bent.

10 JUMPING PULL-UPS (If you can’t do a pull-up, NEVER FEAR. All you have to do is find a straight bar overhead, like the monkey bars, and grab ahold of that bar. You might have to jump to grab the bar too and that’s great! Either way, use your jump as your power to lift your chin over that bar!)

10 WEIGHTED WALKING LUNGES (Make sure you are lunging low enough that your front leg is making a 90 degree angle!)

 Do ALL of that 5 times and you are done!!

Make sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your workout.

AND make sure to cool down with 15 minutes of walking or stretching.

AND finally, go eat a cupcake!! You deserve it FOR THE LOVE!
