Christmas In A Jar

Merry Christmas!

from the Fancy Farmgirls.

Christmas is a time that our senses are on overload.

 Isn’t it great?

The sights, the sounds, the tastes

(definite overload!)

The smells.  All powerful reminders of what Christmas is to us.

We want to share how we bottle up that fresh Christmas smell.

But first…..

We’ve done fresh greenery outside where it holds up well

and smells swell!  #poet

And stick some branches in a planter with more greens and a pop of berries and so simple!

But alas, it wasn’t us.  Credit goes to good ol’ Home Goods.  But seriously, how easy!

One fun thing about our house lot is it’s located across the street from a mint farm.  It’s divine.

So thanks to the fresh greenery and hardworking farmer next door, the outside smells pretty great.

But come inside!  I want you to smell how we bring the smell of Christmas to the indoors.

You’ll smell it the moment you enter.

Best smell ever!  You will love it!

This is so simple to prepare

and lasts for days.

Lemons, oranges, fresh cranberries, bay leaves, whole cloves and cinnamon sticks.

Slice up the lemons and oranges and toss all the ingredients together.

Add just enough water to cover and keep on a low simmer on the stove.

Your home will be filled with the aroma of Christmas.

 It’s so good!

As the water evaporates, just continue to add water.  One batch of this can be used multiple times.

I love to bottle this up and give to family and friends.

Add all ingredients to a canning jar with a festive ribbon and done!

The gift that keeps on giving.  And not in calories!  Double win.

  1. I love this idea! I’d love to make jars for my neighbors. What sized jars did you use? Would you slice up the citrus and give them that way or would you suggest giving whole fruit with instructions to slice when ready to boil?
