Easy Homemade Play Dough using Kool Aid

Well folks … it’s officially summer! Are YOU ready?? Every year I find myself getting a little nervous for the long days, entertaining kids and trying to stay busy! Do you have those feelings?! Just me? Ha! When we were little,  my mom would always make this fun play dough and it was our favorite. It keeps really good and smells good too! The best part is it only takes a couple ingredients and an afternoon to make!

If you want bigger batches, this is super easy to double!

Easy Homemade Play Dough using Kool Aid

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup Salt
  • 1 pkg Kool Aid
  • 1 TBL Cream of Tartar
  • 1 TBL Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Cup Water

Instructions

  1. In a medium sized sauce pan, combine flour, salt, kool aid and cream of tartar.

  2. Mix together.

  3. Add water and oil.

  4. Stir over medium heat until the play dough becomes firm and hard to stir. {It will change pretty quickly so watch it close!}

  5. Once it becomes too hard to stir, dump out onto lightly floured counter.

  6. When the play dough is cool to the touch, knead together until smooth.

  7. Store in air tight container, in the refrigerator.

Last summer, I shared THIS fun post {apparently kool-aid is our fav!} and summer for us hasn’t officially begun until we’ve got this tradition done! For other fun summer activities, check this fun idea out, or this one too!  What are some fun things you like to do/must do in the summer? Are you a scheduler or a go-with-the-flow type? Do you have rules? I am trying to decide where I want to be in all of that and summer miiiight just be over if I don’t hurry! Ha!

Hope you enjoy your summer! xo- Jo
