I can't wait to see the finished product! One question – is it wood on top or laminate? I saw a great table yesterday at Goodwill but the hubby didn't want me to get it because it was laminate od top. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have a desk very similar to this from my childhood that Im trying to sell on Craigslist. Its just an extra piece of furniture taking up needed space at this point. Cant wait to see what you do with this one though:)

I am amazed at the deals you girls get. Our Goodwill, Salvation Army and Haven outlet have tapped into the fact that there are those of us who repurpose and such… and that desk would easily be priced from 70 – 80 dollars, sad to say.

Man, you are very lucky to find something that great at Goodwill! Our Goodwill Store hasn't got anything but crap! Yet I keep going over there and hoping to catch something good! :) – Karen

I love the old victorian looking pieces with all the curves and fun knobs. I have a couple of pieces and they always turn out fabulous they have such a classy look! Excited to see the finished product!

That desk matches my newly refinished nightstands PERFECTLY. That's what our nightstands looked like before I painted them. We just bought 2 matching dressers off Craigslist that will eventually be painted to match, too! Wish I could find that exact desk at Goodwill for the exact price you got it for!

Can't wait to see the transformation!

I have to echo some other comments here – our local thrift stores have realized that some of their buyers repurposing and selling their finds in flea markets shops, and the prices have gone up. I've had to walk away from some vintage dishware because I wouldn't be able to make a profit on them if I resold. Wonder how long they'll sit on the shelf?

I can't wait to see what you do with this. I have the same style furniture from when I was little…it's currently in my daughter's room. I have the nightstand, the bookshelf, the dresser, and the headboard. Her room is a light purple, and the furniture is currently yellow sorta streaky white with black speckles and blue accents. I'm trying to decide whether to do it white with tiffany blue in the little lines, or a more-crisp yellow with a green accent. Her bedding is green and hot pink.

Brooke, I often go to goodwill and DI's and I never find furniture that cheap and in good enough condition to even try to refinish! I'm so impressed. You've got skills! And I live in Vegas – maybe you're just beating me to all the stores. haha.

If u haven't started it yet, would u sale it? Since mines already done I can't buy yours after u finish it! I know it's a far shot, but just thought I'd ask!

Maintenance of wooden furniture items requires the caretaker to apply multiple processes at a same time. Right from color fast decorating to painting of the object, all of them require professional expertise and absolute concentration. A concentration lapse in middle of the work could disown the furniture item of its antique value.
