Couples Taste Tripping Valentine’s Party Ideas

Did you think you read the title wrong? Were you thinking, is this really All Things Thrifty? Is this REALLY what Brooke is writing about today? Well, you are in for a treat today. I wanted your attention! Did I get it!?! I was in charge of couples’ bunko last year which is basically a couples party around Valentine’s Day. So, I’ve been planning on sharing this fun party idea for almost an entire YEAR! But, I’m kinda nervous, I’m not going to lie. Most of the party was very innocent. šŸ™‚ You know I’m LDS, {AKA Mormon”}, so I promise the party was clean.

The party theme I chose was “Be a Little Sweeter” and “SPICE up your Love Life,” I served spicy food. The menu: three assortments of Mexican Enchiladas: Traditional Creamy {recipe coming soon}, Honey Lime, and the Traditional red sauce Enchiladas, Mexican rice, and Flavored Black beans}. After dinner, I had a fun surprise for the group.

I ordered taste changing pills from amazon, and we had the most hilarious time eating all sorts of crazy foods. They cost a little over $1 a pill, but you can get away with 1/2 a pill per person if you want to.

You might be thinking, “What the heck is this witchcraft!?!” The pills are made out of a fruit, and when you coat your toungue with the pill, it COMPLETELY changes the way foods taste. In fact, they taste SWEETER, hence the be a little sweeter party theme.

The pills last about 30-60 minutes depending on the person, and to be completely up front, they worked better on some than others.

We tasted: limes, pickles, sour cream, strawberries, sour apples, lemons, pineapple, and even a few brave friends drank vinegar. If you want a laugh, this is a must.

The “taste-tripping” was a BLAST. We had so much fun trying the foods. One of my friends said that the strawberries tasted like they were picked fresh out of an Oregon strawberry patch, and were the best strawberries he had tasted in years! It was hilarious! {I bought them at Costco!}

After we ate, I gave this quiz to see which couple knew the most aphrodisiac foods on the list, and guess what? Hardly anyone knew them! The couple that won, got a prize. Did you know about all of these foods??? Foods that make you feel a little friskier! Aphrodisiac Foods

After that, we played Bunko as couples, and had dessert.

I think I served my hubby’s favorite, White Chocolate Raspberry Bundt Cake}. It was a year ago, so I’m racking my brain to remember. Let’s pretend I made this: white+chocolate+raspberry+bundt+cake

Because it’s my go-to dessert that I make for 95% of all parties.

I hope you got a kick out of my couples party planning skills. If you have an upcoming Valentine’s Party, I hope these ideas help!

xoxo,

Brooke

  1. I have never heard of those magic taste pills – how funny! It sounds like you had quite the party. I love to see people having fun like that!

  2. I LOVE this! Totally doing it. I think I’ll even send guests home with a few samples of doTERRA’s “sensuality” oils and maybe the Sensuality tear pad sheet.
    Can you please elaborate how you played the foods game? How does the handout tie into the game? I need help with that. Thank you so much!

  3. I got that recipe for the bundt cake off your blog a couple years ago and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, it is so good! (Thanks for that)
