Red, White, and Blue Patriotic Decor

Guys. It’s June and the 4th of July is next week…. Want to know a secret about me? I’m not the blogger who decorates 4 months ahead so that I can blog about it early. 🙂 I love when I start to see Christmas decor posts in September, but I honestly refuse to work that far ahead. I work in real time. Maybe that’s against the blogging rules, but I figure, hopefully someone likes my decor ideas for NEXT July. So how’s that for working ahead. I’m 11 FULL months ahead! I sometimes wish I could be THAT blogger because let’s be honest, those bloggers are freakin’ rock stars. Instead I celebrate when the decorating actually happens. I’m a mom of 4 kids, and decorating takes a back seat to life sometimes. And, in my opinion that’s ok. I love to decorate {it’s my creative outlet}, but it’s not something that is do or die for me.

Can I get an AMEN!?! 🙂

July is insanely busy for us. I’m sure it’s busy for you too. We go to Lake Powell on a family vacation and we have a BLAST! Have you ever heard of it? It’s honestly my favorite place on Earth. Then we’ll travel to see family for Pioneer Days, and then I’ll be gone for 5 days to Girls’ Camp at the end of July too. Phew.

I’m sure you’ve learned through reading All Things Thrifty, that we keep it real around here. I don’t decorate to blog about it. I life live and blog about things I love. I love to decorate, so naturally I do a lot of blogging about that!

I’m kinda lucky when it comes to patriotic decor because I already have a HUGE barn wood USA map that hangs in my house year round. {Is that cheating?…Don’t answer that.}

So really all I needed was a little red, white, and blue decor items to polish off the space. Plus, adding a little boating/Mastercraft paraphernalia {like this wooden Mastercraft barrel top} made it truly a JULY themed space in my opinion.

I bought the cute red, white, and blue tassel banner at HomeGoods. 🙂

My rockin’ husband cut that bad boy out with a jigsaw for me a few years ago, and it’s still my favorite piece of art in my entire house. The barn wood is authentic chippy barn wood from my sister Natalie’s barn in Central Utah that was torn down a few years back.

The tchotchkes are mostly from HomeGoods because let’s be honest I’m kinda obsessed and throw pillows are my obsession, and their throw pillow department is spot on!

I added a few cute vinyl stars to the front of my wooden toolbox with my trusty Silhouette Machine to add a little patriotic pizzaz. {Click here to see more Silhouette Projects}.

I scrounged through the house to find red, white, and blue books, and was excited to find quite a few! Plus adding a few American flags was a fun addition {and cheap too since they were a couple bucks at Walmart}. The lightbulb arrow is from Michaels that I painted gray.

I would love to see your patriotic decor too, so tag me on Instagram and use the hashtag #allthingsthriftydecor for the chance to be featured!

xoxo,

Brooke

  1. I love this. You have totally inspired me to post some a patriotic tutorial that I was working on in June and didn’t have time to post it before the Forth.. I was just going to keep it until next year, but we can be patriotic all year long right? I don’t know how those bloggers do it a few months in advance! I love your honesty here! 🙂
