New Countertops Reveal

My original plan for my kitchen when we moved into our dream home was to paint the cabinets, rip out the rounded island, replace the bar stools, get new lights, replace the countertops and backsplash and do it ASAP. Then we moved in and real life set in.

I couldn’t do it. The wood cabinets grew on me.  The round kitchen island was EXTREMELY functional, and the suspended chairs were too convenient. I vowed to pause the plan and put it into the sidebar for awhile. I’m so glad I did. The plan changed. The original checklist was extreme and would have cost us an obscene amount of money.

The plan changed,  and I am absolutely thrilled with the result.  I moved in, fell in love with the functionality of the space, and all original plans went out the window, and boy am I glad! This is our forever house, and I don’t want to regret anything.

Watch this youtube video I made to see the whole project!

For those who are curious about every detail in the kitchen, I will link it all for you I promise!

But, first I have to show you the before and afters of this project, I am shocked at how the feel of the kitchen has shifted. I mentioned in previous posts how “formal” my kitchen felt. Plus the walls, the cabinets, the island, and pendant lights and backsplash were all. warm . tones.

Here is a glimpse of the kitchen before:

The granite was extremely busy. It was dark brown, black, tan and orange tones.

After:

The new countertops are absolutely stunning. They make my kitchen look and feel brand new.

The quartz is HanStone Brand. The color is called CHANTILLY, and the fabrication, installation, and demo was completed by Bedrock Quartz, a local Utah-based company that did an INCREDIBLE job.

Extending the quartz to the backsplash is my favorite part, and I love how the pattern continues from the backsplash onto the countertop seamlessly.

The white countertops also make the cabinets look better in my opinion. I love mixing cool tones with warm tones and I love how timeless the kitchen feels with the dark wood/white quartz combination.

Look at the backsplash before:

The warm tones aren’t as extreme in pictures as they were in real life. The backsplash tiles were a dark cream/almond color.

Now with the quartz as the new backsplash, it feels simple, classy, and elegant.

I painted the kitchen island with my trusty “how to paint kitchen cabinets” method, and I’m in love with the grayed out navy blue color called “Connecticut Blue.”

The pot filler that Dan installed for me is from Elkay  and the beautiful new sink is also from Elkay. The matte black kitchen faucet is from MOEN.

We removed the design elements in the cabinetry, which helped modernize the look of the kitchen.

We replaced the pendant lights with these from KICHLER and love the satin brushed nickel that the new lights bring.

We also painted the walls white. The color we chose is called “Chantilly Lace.”

Thank you Bedrock Quartz and HanStone Quartz for partnering with me on this project. I recommend both companies and give them both rave reviews.

Let me know if you have any questions about this transformation!

xoxo,

Brooke
