Metallic Rock Solid Garage Retreat!

This post is sponsored by Rustoleum. All opinions are 100% my own.

I’ll be brutally honest. My garage has been a stress in my life for the last few years. Whenever we cleaned it, it seemed to stay clean for a week or two, and then a project would overtake our time and it would be a mess in a jiffy.  We had too much stuff, no where to put it, and didn’t make having a clean garage a priority. BUT, I needed it to function better. I was constantly searching for tools, supplies, and scissors. 🙂  My garage is All Things Thrifty headquarters and pictures speak louder than words.  {Hands covering eyes}

img_6212Are we still friends? I hope so. I kinda just showed you our dirty laundry.

Our driveway looked a little nutso for a bit, but it was definitely worth it. I told my neighbors that we were secretly hoping that it would all get stolen. HAHA.

I cannot begin to tell you how much better it looks.  It doesn’t look like a garage! It is so spacious, clean, and organized, that we can hold parties out there if we want.

We organized our DIY supplies, hardware and paint. I can finally find a hammer and a measuring tape when I need one. It makes me so happy!

With the help of Rustoleum’s Rock Solid Metallic {in Earth Brown} our garage is now the retreat I’ve always wanted. It is completely organized and I know exactly where everything lives.

Plus, I wanted my girls to be able to dance in there! The garage is almost 1000 square feet so I filled the expansion joints before we installed the Rock Solid. {Tutorial of how to fill expansion joints coming soon}.

We installed 48” Closet Maid Cabinets across the entire back of the garage to hold everything that needed a home.

I’m absolutely thrilled with the result.

Now All Things Thrifty headquarters looks the way I’ve envisioned it to.

AND, everything has a home. It’s a gosh, dang miracle.

I can breath when I go in there now. It’s definitely a retreat.

I love that my craft stuff is organized now too. I am determined to keep it that way.

  1. Looks good. My father-in-law put an epoxy on his pole barn floor and it makes it so much easier to keep clean than just the unprotected cement. I’m also envious of wall -o-totes

  2. This looks awesome! My garage would look…the exact same 😉 Could you come over, organize and re install everything?!

  3. This is unreal…It looks like a showroom! Amazing job…but you aren’t actually going to park a car on that beautiful floor, right???!!!

  4. My garage looks crazy messy and cluttered. Maybe I could find the same motivation you did with this product! I love how your retreat turned out…AMAZING!

  5. That is the most beautiful garage I’ve ever seen. Dance parties sound fun! We don’t have a basement so our garage is a storage room. We’d love to have it more organized and those Rust-Oleum floors look amazing. If we do that to our garage we could make it into a place we could pull out our pong pong table and play, then actually park cars in it.

  6. This looks amazing! With Rustoleum Rock Solid epoxy we could finally close in our carport and turn it into a garage/storage space. It would be so much more functional.

  7. Mine would be unrecognizable! I literally just did a post about how I have to do a literal obstacle course every time I go into my garage! This would be beyond fabulous. I also LOVE the dance space idea. I have two dancers and we’re always moving around furniture to make room. Your new garage is #GOALS! Love it!

  8. Is this product slippery when wet? We enter thru our garage and with snow and ice melting it can get hazardous on smooth cement. I love the look of your garage, but need good function also.

  9. I would LOVE to do this in my garage. We’ve been researching it and trying to get cleaned up enough to actually do it!

  10. Me, me, me please! I, like you, am TIRED of spending hours cleaning the garage to only have it look like a disaster again in 3 months. I’d love to save my sweat for another project.

  11. Having a floor like this would change my life! I use the garage to access the house 90% of the time and it is showing every bit of its 60 years!
I clicked that I visited Rustoleum on Facebook however I couldn’t get there from the link you posted …

  12. Oh my husband would just flip if we won this – this is on his “Hunny Do” list this Friday to clean out the garage so we can park in there this winter.

  13. I cannot believe the difference!! It looks amazing! If I had this kit- it would finally get us going on finishing our garage. We need to drywall and get storage going. This would be the perfect motivation!

  14. So amazing! Love it! Thanks for the inspiration! If my garage cave had that floor, it would be wonderfully easier to keep everything in the garage cleaner. And if my garage cave had cabinets and shelves like those, it would make organizing and categorizing items a more do-able and happier job. Floors easy to clean and a place for everything is what I would strive for; looks like you achieved both plus more.

  15. Your garage looks AMAZING! I have a garden/hot tub room with a brick floor that we are redoing and turning into a tv/family room. I think this would make the floor swoon worthy!

  16. I love this look! So much easier to keep clean with cars and dogs! Excited to try it in my garage! Thanks!

  17. The list of projects I dream of doing in our home is so long it is almost overwhelming, but one HUGE one would certainly be our garage. The “2 car garage” (aka – 1.5 cars or two TINY car garage) would benefit so much from a makeover! A floor that we could walk on that won’t hurt my feet?! WHAT?!

  18. I love the floors!! I hope to epoxy our garage someday but hen I’ll be afraid to get over spray on them!!

  19. I’m hoping my cave would look organized and super clean. Right now, everything gets thrown into corners and just dropped in the garage.

  20. I enter my house through the garage. Every time I open the overhead door, I get bummed, looking at the stained concrete and general mess. This would motivate me to get it together. Thanks for the opportunity and good luck to all who enter.

  21. My “cave” sure would look 300% better with this product from rustoleum! I definitely would be reorganizing so I could see more of the beautiful floor!!!

  22. We’re finishing up remodeling a foreclosure as our (hopefully) forever home to raise our kids in! The garage is the only thing we haven’t touched yet. It was very neglected and full of spiders, so I’d love something like this to make it useable space for the kids to play!

  23. We are building a new house that will be done next month and this would be perfect to install before we move in!

  24. Looks great! Would love to redo my garage floor – it’s already my fem den and this would make it look even better!

  25. That looks fantastic! I really want to do something like this in my basement…is it appropriate for an indoor project with a lot of ventilation? I want to do an entertaining area in our walkout basement. Love it!!

  26. I adore those cabinets – I definitely need something like that in my garage! And the floor cover would seriously encourage me to use it more often.

  27. That is a wonderful transformation. This gave me some much need inspiration. I would love to give Rock Solid a try.
