{Fuel your Faith} FREE Printable Handouts for Girls Camp!

Happy August everyone! Are you as excited about the cooler temps, school starting and alllll the pumpkin things as I am? I usually love summer but it kicked my butt this year so I am happy to see it go! Ha!

One thing I DID love about this summer though was Girls’ Camp. After we moved into our new house  I was immediately called as Camp Director {if you aren’t sure what that is, you can read about it here}! I was so excited! I love the youth of our church, I have always loved girls’ camp and I loooooove any chance to be in charge. 😉 It was a perfect fit!

So fast forward 9 months, 1,876  24 meetings, countless prayers, only a few tears, and A LOT of hours of preparation and it was GO TIME! So today I am sharing with you some of the handouts I made and a few other ideas. We were with our stake but ended up doing our own little theme as a ward as well.

The main phrase we used was “Faith is kindled by hearing the testimony of those who have faith” and decided to run with the word “kindled”. This was great for decorating and hand outs, etc. We shortened that to “Fuel your Faith” and our girls’ camp theme was born! I admit in the beginning we were a little all of over the place with allll the “light things” but in the end, I decided it didn’t matter and that the girls would love whatever we did. The pillow treats below were handed out each night and we put them in their designated spot in the shoe hanger .   We used this as a “mail box” for each girl and it ended up working out awesome! {ALL printables can be found at the end of this post!}

We gave each girl a pair of these cute sunglasses! We ordered the ones pictured from Oriental Trading and they were pretty cheap. But that means cheap all around. If I did it again though, I think I would order something more like this.

These glow sticks were a hit the last night after testimony meeting! They were from the dollar store and I found 20 packs for $1! Score! But here’s 300 for $20. For this one I printed it on regular paper but ended up putting card stock on the back for stability and then we just cut a slit in the top and bottom and slid the glow sticks through.

Ok, this one needs just a small explanation. With the whole theme being about testimonies and fire, I wanted to come up with an object lesson. I wanted them to understand that you don’t have to stand at the podium to bare your testimony and that when you can in fact, bare your testimony in small daily tasks. The best part is when you do this, things can change for someone. So when it was really dark, {and we were gathered around the fire} I gave each girl a packet of this super fun flame changing stuff! { I told them not to look though and most of them didn’t know what it was!} I then told them a little story about how by being a good example and having the spirit in our home, our family helped a young girl gain her own testimony which led to her baptism and eventual marriage in the temple. We never stood and bore our testimony to her but we did do a lot in the little every day things and changes were being made. I then asked the girls to give me examples of ways that THEY can bare their testimony every day. It was quiet for a minute until someone spoke up and just said something like “By being a good friend to kids at school.” I then told her to throw the packet in the fire and the magic happened! It was sooooo fun to see their expressions and everyone had an example after that. 😉 This really does work and it is fun! You can get your own magical flames here! I wish I had a picture of the flames and how vibrant and cool they were but it’s hard to remember to take pictures when you’re feeling the spirit! 😉

Well that’s for today! I want to share a few more things with you but this post has been long enough so I will save those for another day! Guys. Girls’ Camp is just the best! Thanks for letting me hang out today!
