Boys’ Boating and Waterski Room Makeover REVEAL

Well friends. I can’t believe I am saying this but my boys room is done! Yep, you read that right… done! After living in our home for almost 7 years, and just not knowing exactly what I wanted to do with the space, it was definitely time. How does that saying go… good things come to those who wait?! Well let’s just say my cute boys have waited patiently, and I am so glad they did because I could not be happier with how this room turned out!

If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we love the lake, and our kids love it too.  It was only fitting that we would decorate our boys room with boating in mind.

It’s just the right amount of “boy” and it is something that will last, even as the boys grow.

So …. I will let the pictures take over from here but be warned: Adorable picture overload is about to commence.

Isn’t it dreamy?!

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-14We started by tearing out the carpet {which we plan to eventually replace} but in the meantime we painted the floor.  I rolled on Kilz primer and then topped that with Ultra White Behr floor/porch paint. It went on great and dried fast too.

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-13Next came the beds! Can you believe these bad boys are from Walmart?!? I love the new online furniture products from Better Homes and Gardens. The beds are called Panama Beach in the gray finish and are only $180 each. They were perfect for this space, went together amazingly and I was so happy with the quality! I definitely think they will hold up to two active boys! Plus I wouldn’t hesitate to order a similar product in the future.

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-11The books were a DI find {Utah’s version of goodwill}. The lamps are Better Homes and Gardens  {teal option}, and I love how they look in their room. The boat picture looks so cute on the dresser and could the colors be any better?

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-10The walls were inspired by where we live. In Southern Utah, we are completely surrounded by the beautiful red rock and people come from all over the world to see them. Just Google Zion National Park and you will see what I mean.

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-9We already had the dressers, but we painted them with Behr Ultra in Regatta*. It is the most beautiful shade of blue I have found! HAHA! We actually came across it while we were in Hawaii and I may or may not have asked the owner of a local shop to show me the paint can! #definitelydid 😉

*I want to mention that it is a Sherwin Williams color but Home Depot color matched it perfectly for me. We mixed it with BB Frosch chalk powder and sealed both of them with Rustoleum’s Matte Topcoat.

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-8 The ski was Dans’ grandpa’s. Isn’t it cool? {We have another project in mind for that! It’ll be awesome!}

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-7This space is open and bright and I just love how everything came together!!

Boys Waterskiing and Boating Room-6The rug was a fantastic find and looks amazing in this space!

So what do you think? Are you ready to move in? Or at least head to the lake?! 😉 My boys are sooooo happy with their new room!

  1. I love how it turned out! I especially liked your video of how the bedding “zips.” Great job! My favorite part of the room is the wall mural.
