Barn Wood Americana Decor

I am putting this on my “to do” list for next July.

My friend Liz Sharp has this classic red, white, and blue barn wood decoration in her entry way, and I think it is so cute. I love simple decorations that are classic. Liz’s sister Jennifer Stewart spray painted some barn wood and added the paper stars from the craft store to make the flag.

She wired the barn wood slats together with wire similar to the advent calendar that I made at Christmas time. The advent calendar adorned with ornaments is very cute also!

I love that the bottom piece of wood is broken on Liz’s patriotic decoration! It adds to the character of the flag decor.

I always tend to gravitate to decor items that are large and make a statement.

This patriotic decor is definitely something I would hang up in my house! Random Sidenote: Liz’s rug is from Target. šŸ™‚

  1. Cute Lizzy! Wish I had some access to barn wood…. Brooke, thanks for adding the rug info! LOL! I was totally staring at it, thinking how cute it was and then saw your little note…. TARGET! šŸ™‚ You both have such cute houses!

  2. Hey i was wondering how well heavy things like this hang up. It looks like you just have wire on it but I was wondering what type of wire and if the barn wood stays put with that type of hanging?

    1. I always hang my heavy items with D rings. Ask at Home Depot, they know what they are, and then I always find a stud or use dry wall anchors first.
