Pumpkin Extravaganza 2012

Brooke's Iphone 046

My family is insanely talented at carving pumpkins. I know, that’s a pretty funny talent, right? Well, it’s the truth.

We started carving insane amounts of pumpkins eight years ago, and now it’s a fun family tradition that we do. Random? Maybe. Fun? YES!

If you are new around here you may not know that we are pumpkin freaks. Ha! I guess that’s the easiest way to put it. I explained our pumpkin-carving family tradition a week or so ago, and it doesn’t seem possible that another pumpkin year has come and gone.

We had a blast, and our neighbors and friends and family came and supported our efforts.

<-----My brother Eric carved the amazing All Things Thrifty pumpkin.

Drumroll please…..

The pumpkins were displayed at Staheli Family Farm, who sponsored the pumpkins this year. They were at the farm for a few days before Halloween, and then we had them back to our driveway for that night. It was quite the display!

Brooke's Iphone 081The pumpkins were carved by a lot of people and I don’t have a picture of everyone, but here are some of the pumpkin artists!! Carving takes days and days. We were sleep deprived and very tired by the time Halloween came this year.

{The pumpkins from 2011 and 2010 are also incredible.} If you need pumpkin carving tips, check out our pumpkin 101 post or if you want to know where we get our pumpkin patterns check out the top 10 places to get pumpkin patterns.

Before a family member leaves a snide comment I will be fully truthful and say that I didn’t carve as many pumpkins as years past. I had a MASSIVE migraine headache during the events this year, and I wasn’t a big help this year. Better luck next year for me. Just keeping it real peeps.

  1. Brooke you and your family are seriously talented. I got a kick out of looking at all of those awesome pumpkins! Kudos to you and your sweet family!

  2. Tabbitha,
Thank you for the comment. I am so grateful that you took the time to write it. Getting comments is getting rare {maybe because of Pinterest?} and I cherish every comment. Thank you.

  3. This is INSANE!!! Haha Seeing people with crazy, fun talents like this one reminds me why I love people so much. I'm pretty sure I will never have an amazing pumpkin display like yours, but I'm so glad that I can see yours from afar! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Incredible! Love the Spiderman! What talent! Not enough patience in my family to do a basic carving. 'Smashing Pumpkins' would be us! Thanks for sharing.

  5. I enjoy your updates so much! I have three children and understand the whole messy house thing. It's wonderful that you are able to raise your children and keep your mind & hands in such a creative and fun field! The Blog is fantastic. Thank you for all you do to inspire us. I LOVE the pumpkins. We are hoping to attempt this with our children and some of their friends next Halloween (they are 8, 12, and 16). I am closing with my own update. Today, I am attempting the dining room furniture "Glazing 101." I have taken precarious notes from your Blog and studied your photographs. I will send photos when I am finished. Wish me luck! – Colleen in Maryland

  6. Brooke- I know I'm a day late and a dollar short but I love all the pumpkins they are amazing, what a fun tradition.
