A FUN Porch that says #HELLO!

This post is sponsored by Proctor and Gamble. All opinions are 100% mine.

#HELLO! Pretend you are my new neighbor. Welcome to my porch. Do you want to come in? What does our courtyard say about us?
welcoming porch

Have you moved lately? Thank heavens I haven’t because moving can be the pits. It’s one of the necessary evils of life. When you move into a new space, making it feel homey and inviting is definitely the fun part. Think of it as a new blank canvas.

The first space that greets your new neighbors is your front door and courtyard. Plus, when you are loading in 10 bags of groceries, (or 100 moving boxes), you need a porch that will put a smile on your face. So I suggest adding a little love to that area soon after move in. Make it YOU! Clean it up, paint your front door, hang up art, add some colorful plants! Whatever makes you happy, DO IT!

We added pizzaz to our porch by hanging a fun personalized welcome sign and a little art above the door. Warning, if the wind blows and knocks off the “O”, your house says #HELL. I may or may not be speaking from experience.

When you move in, most the time your house needs a little cleaning and scrubbing, check out FinditatHomeDepot.com/moving for some great information about moving and some great cleaning tips! Spoiler alert! Did you know you can use a Swiffer wet pad to clean high windows!?! I just found that out. It’s a game changer.

  1. If I won, I’d buy 2 new carriage lights for my garage. We moved in 2 yrs ago and they are hideous. Haha I was going to attempt to save them, the style doesn’t change with spray paint tho. So I’ll be waiting till I can purchase new ones ???? fingers crossed!

  2. I love Mandi’s “Clever Closet Organization and Cleaning DIY Project” – the sliding closet door is amazing!

  3. I love the mudroom makeover, and need to do the pantry one too. Would love $200 Home Depot gift card! I have so much painting I need to do!

  4. My husband and I are getting ready to put our house on the market and we’re spending SOOOOO much money on just the little things we really should’ve done instead of letting them fall to the bottom of our to do list for the last 5 years we’ve lived in our place. Not only will the $200 help but I really think this whole thing has opened my eyes to what slowly building a house into a home over time benefits x100000 so thank you for your projects, I can’t tell you how many of them we’ve used!

  5. gosh, we’re moving into a new house in a couple of weeks…..I could use many of the projects home depot lists! love the linen closet redo, the diy pillows and the colorful dresser

  6. you just gave me the most amazing inspiration to get my butt in gear with our front porch. its an awkward porch (entry is on the side), but i have always wanted it to reflect our personality. Thank you so much!

    1. sorry i forgot to say that part of that reno is to make that hanging plant with the wooden disks… love!

  7. I love your front porc, so colorful & welcoming! I really love the hallway wood paneling project!!

  8. Love your site! If I was to win, I would finally get some much needed shelving in my laundry room! I love organization, and without any shelves or storage, I am going nuts! Thank you! <3 🙂

  9. I love the hanging shelf and the floating shelves! We are moving into our first this summer and this post is so helpful! Thank you for this great give-away!

  10. The front porch of course! Haven’t had time to “spring up” my porch and this gets me motivated.

  11. The old dresser make over! I’ve been wanting to do something similar to our dresser but never know where to start!

  12. I would get 2 big planters for our entry and fill them full of plants (fuchsia, a tall grass and maybe something else) if I had some leftover, i would have to get a bench 🙂

  13. I love love the floating shelves!! We just made a set for our weekend house using some beat-up reclaimed wood for a rustic look!! Love Home Depot!!!

  14. I love the diy painted kilim rug! Great way to brighten up any area! (Thanks for the tip on washing those high windows with a swiffer.)

  15. Absolutely gorgeous Brooke – that Teal is my favorite color and I have my kitchen pantry door painted in it….it’s my happy color. I think great minds think alike….I just updated my front porch also, I stenciled a design on the concrete, and of course teal is the main color – along with brown and lime green, added new plants and a few decorative pots….I love your sign.

As for the project I like, it would have to be the towel rack for the bathroom. I tried making one that looks like a ladder but my husband hates it because it keeps sticking out….this looks like the perfect solution.

  16. I love all the organization tips. We live in small townhome and organization is key to fit all of life into it 🙂

  17. So many great projects but the shutter bench is speaking to me! Especially since I have all the materials! Thanks!

  18. I love the Linen Hall Refresh idea. I feel like I could clean out my linen closet every month and not have it look this good. I need to get the proper cleaning tools and baskets to get this under control like they did!

  19. Loving that blue door! I’ve been wanting to paint my front door but my walls are like a rust red (used to be red at one point i’m sure) and i’m not sure what color to paint it. Love yours tho!

  20. Love the painted turkish rug. I have been looking for a new entry rug but haven’t found one with a design I love that I am willing to pay for. That would be perfect!

  21. I love the board and batten, I’ve wanted to do that in our master bedroom for awhile now!

  22. I love the fun fresh projects. The one that drew me in first was the DIY floating shelves. I’ve been thinking about building floating shelves for my laundry room. And, I love your bright porch. It’s so fun and happy, and my heavens, the hashtag, I just love it!!

  23. I love the “FROM KITCHEN CABINET TO OPEN SHELVES”! They look great! I would love to have some of those!

  24. I love the “Hanging Catch-All Shelf”. It looks simple enough that i could even do it myself! 🙂 Love your blog!

  25. oh my goodness!!! let’s hope the ‘e’ stays on!! that was hilarious!! i like the floating shelves in the bathroom!!

  26. Tell me what your favorite project on the Find it Home Depot moving page is! —> I love the floating shelves, my husband and I would like to put those in every room of our house! I also like the DIY wood paneling. Board and batten gives a room such a classic look! 🙂

  27. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity. We are frequent shoppers at home depot. I love all of the projects but bringing the outside in is one of my favorites. I invite you to share your giveaway on my giveaway page. Don’t forget to enter my giveaway too. Hugs!

  29. Love love the shutter bench project! How cool is that. And I think I just may have some old shutters! woohoo!

  30. I like the “An Old Chest Gets Cleaned Up and Dressed Up”. I am wanting to try to redo a few furniture pieces, that is how I found your fabulous blog. Hopefully between your blog and the Home Depot article and supplies, I can do this! The gift certificate, of course, would be nice 🙂

  31. my fave is ‘mud room gets a makeover’ even though i dont have a mud room right now but i sure wish i did!

  32. Hiya!!! Lots of great ideas there, too many to pick just one. I especially like the floating shelves, and the ideas in the Green Kitchen area are fantastic. Thanks for having the giveaway. Blessed be, hugs!!! Pam

  33. Oh this would be so wonderful to win! We really want to add a shower to our bathroom and this would help so much!

  34. The fabric wall art!! We have simple taste when it comes to decorating, but that’s a great way to add a pop of color and pattern!

  35. I love the floating shelves and the board and batten. It would look great in my Laundry room redo.

  36. A master bedroom door with presence gets my vote because I have a similar door in my bedroom which I’ve been trying to figure out a solution to! Love your teal door!

  37. I like be the floating shelves. I’ve been wanting to do that in my living room which is completely bate. And I love the wainscoting idea too, with the hanging hooks as well!!

  38. I love the swiffer ideas. Not only can you dust, but you can write down the walls and get cobwebs, clean ceiling fans, etc etc! The list is endless! I also love the floating shelves! I’m going to be updating some shelves this weekend it looks like????

  39. I have always wanted to try the board & batten in my entryway. The hubs isn’t too crazy about such a drastic change though so I’ll just have to build his confidence in my abilities until he comes around! 🙂 Maybe a new front door color is in order in the meantime to give our house a pop of color!!

  40. My next project is my front porch & this would be such a great help ????. I’m painting the door, for sure, but love the other ideas! Now to pick what to diy!!!

  41. I love the board and batten idea! I’ve been wanting to pull the shelves out of a huge entryway closet we have and convert it into a bench with cubbies for shoe baskets. My husband and I have already decided the board and batten would be the perfect thing to go along with the bench. The hooks will be great for backpacks and jackets! I can’t wait to open up that space!

  42. Love the front door makeover! We just moved into a cosmetic fixer upper so the gift card would be awesome!!!

  43. I love the DIY shutter bench! My husband and I just built our own shutters (they are so darn expensive!!) and so now we have our old shutters lying around. I never thought to use them to make a bench! It’s seriously the cutest idea ever. 🙂

  44. Two many great projects to choose from, but I would have to pick the { Bathroom Cleanup & Ladder Towel Rack because with all boys in my household, towels just never make it on the hooks and I think my boys would hang there towels on this awesome towel ladder 🙂

  45. I moved into my apt four years ago and decided that this summer I will work on the last thing I have left… The little backyard!
I love the painted flower pots and the entryway. I am also considering the hanging pots. I am an artist and I have decided that summer I will paint from my backyard all the beautiful flowers I’m planning to plant 🙂

  46. I love the front door makeover! I’d use the money to spruce up my yard and the front of my house ????

  47. Love the floating shelves. I’ve been wanting them lately. IfI won, I would use this to go towards our new flooring. We had to put it on hold because we are expecting or 3rd baby love.

  48. I absolutely love the shutter bench! It is delightful! And by the way, your front door is adorable! I can’t wait to make the hello for my entry. Thanks for sharing your creativity.m

  49. Your porch is so beautiful and beams so positive feelings and energy! I’m moving in 3 months and probably some of your ideas will find place in my new home! I like the hanging rope shelf. Greetings, Man With Van West Hampstead Ltd.
