DIY Laundry Bag

Make this simple and cute laundry bag for your next vacation or to just keep around your home! It won’t take you long at all and is perfectly practical.

I am currently on a long trip traveling in Europe and remembered how annoying it is when the laundry bags in hotels are so small! I’ve wanted to make a big ‘ol laundry bag for a long time. Plus, I can even throw this in with the laundry to wash it out and use it next time. I love the way this turned out.

What You Need for Your DIY Laundry Bag

You will basically be sewing a simple draw string bag! If you’ve done this before you’ll find it really simple. If you haven’t you might be a little confused but I promise it’s super simple.

Start by cutting your fabric. I just used the full yard because I wanted a huge bag!

Next you will serge two of the three sides. On short side and one long side.

Keep it inside out, and fold the open edge down about 1″.  Use your sewing machine to sew a single straight stitch around the edge. Leave about a 1″ opening so you can loop your yarn or rope through.

Next you will take a safety pin and tie it around it so you can hold on to the end as you loop it through the outer edge. Start stringing it around until it comes out the other end. From here I suggest doing ANOTHER loop around the edge so that the ties pull with equal tension. Hopefully that makes sense!

Tie off your yarn and you are all done with your sewing portion. Now you iron on your super cute graphic! You can see all of my tips for using iron on at this post here. There’s even a free printable for you if you’d like to print it out and keep it by your iron on device.

Once you finish your iron on you are officially done! How cute is this? I love how it turned out.
