Homemade Halloween Costumes for Boys: A Shark Cage on Wheels

My husband is a PRO at Homemade Halloween Costumes!

Get ready to have your mind blown at the awesomeness that is today’s post. First of all, my husband Dan did ALL of this. I literally helped with the spray paint and that is it. I don’t know about you, but I think that is so rad! This costume has also been in the making for at least a month so if you are considering it, just make sure you have enough time. The idea came while we were in Lake Powell over the summer and has been a work in progress ever since.

This isn’t a step-by-step tutorial but if you scroll down,  you can see exactly what we did. And to be honest, he basically just drew the plan out and then using PVC pipes, elbows and glue, went to town.

Here are a few of the supplies that were used:

After it was all put together, we decided to prime it so that all of the PVC was nice and even and because we didn’t want any of the stamps and logos showing. This Zinsser Primer in spray can form was perfect.

One coat was totally sufficient and covered perfectly!

Next up was the paint. We went with this Titanium Silver  – also from Rustoleum!

After the painting was all done, we added some small casters on the bottom so that it he can push it around. It’s super light so it’s easy for him to maneuver AND hold a trick or treat bag. šŸ˜‰

Can you even handle the cuteness?? As for some of the other details… being that we are a huge water-ski family, we already had the wet suit, shoes, googles and backpack! {Score!}

Oh, and that awesome air tank? We spray painted a 2-liter bottle, filled it with great stuff foam,  and then added the tubing and knobs! I tell you what, Dan thought of everything! {Here is a link to the great white shark and the hammerhead we purchased but you can find them anywhere pretty easily.}

If you follow us on Instagram, then you saw that a giant daddy SHARK made a cameo appearance too! {You gotta check it out!}

This costume was the hit of our neighborhood/church party last night and I can’t wait for Creed to take it out next Tuesday!

Also, if you have any questions, leave them in the comments and we will try and answer them as quick as we can!

Just keep swimming! šŸ˜‰
