MOEN garbage disposal with PLUG

This post is sponsored by The Home Depot. All opinions are 100% mine.

Dan just told me that he has installed 250 disposals in the last 10 years. Ummmmm that’s incredible. I heard a little pride in his voice when he told me the number. When our neighbors need help with a household issue, Dan is definitely the go to guy for people to call.  After all, he is the maintenance manager over 1200 rental units and he’s definitely the guy who knows how to fix everything! I’ve convinced him a few times to let me pick his brain about his job and today is one of those days!

Home Depot sent me a MOEN garbage disposal because they wanted us to try it, and we were jumping for joy because we have had a mysterious smell coming from ours since our move in date over six months ago. I know I’m not alone. Those disposal smells can get intense! I’m excited because the new one has 3/4 horsepower compared to the 1/3 horsepower standard disposals out there.  So what does that say to me? My kids aren’t going to clog this bad boy!

After talking to Mandi about her MOEN® disposal, it occurred to me that Dan left out one vital piece of information when he installed ours. IT HAS A PRE-INSTALLED PLUG! A standard disposal that you buy at Home Depot doesn’t come with one.

When Dan worked at Home Depot in the plumbing department when we were college students, he said that every single day someone would come back to the store after buying a new disposal because they didn’t know they needed to buy the electric cord separately. So after he learned this, he started telling people who were buying disposals that they needed to buy a cord separately to help save them a trip back to the store.

Some people who are handy know how to rewire the cord off of the old disposal and reuse it for a new one, but there are a lot of us who wouldn’t have the first clue how to do that! So I love that MOEN® fixed that problem for people like me who didn’t have a clue.

It’s not crazy expensive either! The MOEN® Disposal is right around $100, and to compare that to the other brands of disposals at Home Depot specifically, it’s about average.  But don’t forget, if you buy a different brand, you will need to buy the $12 cord separately.

One thing to note though, when I went to the Home Depot myself to look at the collection of disposals, the associate there didn’t know they carried a MOEN® disposal. But luckily I had checked beforehand on the Home Depot app, and it told me there were 5 in stock.  This product is so new that your Home Depot, that your associates may not know they even have it yet!

So, if your disposal kicks the bucket, lock this in your brain. The MOEN® is the way to go.

xoxo,

Brooke
