My version of the Home Depot DIH Workshop Paver Planter is a little longer and a little more colorful than the original version, but that’s the way I roll. I do like the original version, but since the outside of my house is brown and boring, I wanted to add a splash of color. Plus in order for the planter to fit where I wanted to put it, I needed it to be twice as long to be the right scale.
Didn’t it turn out pretty!?!
I taped off the edges of the pavers and spray painted it with this darling new coral spray paint color from Rust-Oleum. You can find it at The Home Depot in their spray painting section. I only used 1 can for the entire planter.
I removed the painter’s tape and bang, it was colorful and fun!
I picked out some colorful flowers in the garden section at THD to plant, and I cannot wait to see the potato vines grow like weeds over the next few months! {Sidenote: I walked around the garden section for almost two hours…I absolutely love this time of year. I want all the things. I. Want. Every. Single. Flower.} Someone tell me they are like me, please.

Great question! So, most DIH workshops are demonstrations of the project. So, no, you will not be making your own. But, you go home with the knowledge of exactly how to make one yourself. 🙂
Ahhhh, that isn’t nearly as fun then. I like the idea of building something, but I don’t like the idea of just sitting there and watching someone else make one doesn’t sound as fun.

I would love it if you would go into detail about the actual planting of your box. How do you put things together? What type of flowers do you use! It looks amazing!
Thank you! Ok, so before I planted the box, I lined the inside with weed mat to hold in the soil, but it still allows for drainage. When I picked out the plants, I bought different heights of flowers because I wanted different levels.

I used a Cordyline ‘Red Sensation” in the middle this is the tall purple spray in the middle. The tall purple flowers on both sides of the spray are Dahlias. Then the medium height flowers are a row of red Celosia flowers and a row of yellow Celosias. In the very front middle I have a yellow Calibrachoa hanging flower bunch that will hang down as it grows. Then on the back and front corners, I bought two sweet potato vines in lime green and two sweet potato vines in ‘blackie’ to vine down.
I’ll take a picture of it in a few months.

Hiya Brooke!!! What a gorgeous planter. And your choices of flowers is fantastic. So colorful and just enough green in there too. Yes, I am one of those who can wander for hours in the plant aisles too. My Mama and Grandma passed along their green thumb to me. I just registered for my local workshop. I adore this version. I like many of the other versions, but they were all too small for where I would put mine. Brilliant idea to make it double wide.
