Updating Existing Furniture

Hello!  Fancy Farmgirls here.

We’re behind on life.  We’re far from ready for Christmas, and we’re redoing furniture.

Keep calm and paint on!

An early Christmas present to me that didn’t come in the blessed Amazon box and didn’t require a trip to town.

The “before” which is really a previous “after”.

I painted this several years ago to use as my nightstand.

I recently repainted our bedroom and this look wasn’t working anymore and I was ready for something new.

Not from the store new.  Just a new updated look.

The color is Benjamin Moore “cheating heart”.

A nice dark charcoal color, with a side of fluffy attitude thrown in.

Mismatched  hardware was simply updated with Rust-Oleum “metallic gold” spray paint.  Pulls were replaced with  bin pulls for a more up to date style.

The lamp came from Walmart and was originally oil rubbed bronzed.  The spray paint hit that as well and ta-da!  Mismatched pieces brought together with paint.

It took me one episode of Fixer Upper to update this piece and a few dollars of paint.

If your changing your decor, but don’t want the wallet to take the hit, simply update existing pieces with paint for an entirely new look.

Next up,

Exhibit B:

Last week, we updated this scruffy, chipped up desk to a new and improved look.

  1. That nightstand with the basket of cozy blankets is so perfect. I love it.
Ditto the desk! I so wish I had room for these kinds of things,
