How to build a kitchen command center that is interchangeable

Kitchen command centers are the the new “it” way to keep households moving smoothly.  And the great thing about THIS particular kitchen command center, is that you can easily customize it for your family. Display family calendars, kids’ art projects, make grocery lists and more when you create a customizable Kitchen Command Center!

Pictures slide right into the frames.

And just as easy they slide right out!

Interchangeable Pocket Frame DIY

I love that you can move pictures, kids’ art, and more – in and out as you need.

The interchangeable frames are the magical element that makes this command center so unique and convenient! To make the interchangeable frames see the video instructions below:

As you can see below, layering trim pieces along three sides of the frame makes a perfect pocket for a standard 8.5X11 piece of paper.

Glue the pieces with wood glue and let them dry.

Next, I painted my pocket frames with Rust-Oleum Chalked Spray Paint. I love this product because it’s SANDABLE! Just wait for it to dry and you can distress with sand paper just like other chalk paints.

After you have made the magical pocket frames, all you need to do is brad nail them to a backer board!

And ta-da you have your very own {and fantastic} Kitchen Command Center! It will be the envy of all other command centers! 😉 Have any other questions, leave them in the comments and we will try our best to get them answered!

  1. What make me excited with this idea is I can change photo easily. So that frame maybe is photo, maybe it is note in kitchen. That’s convenient!
