I wrapped an indigo dyed garland in my tree this year and knew I wanted some indigo on my door too! Then I remembered the park near by has beautiful blue spruce that would pair really well with indigo. I walked over and cut some trimmings so this ended up costing me the cost of the wreath form ($1) and the towel. Yep, that’s a towel in there!

What you need for your indigo shibori wreath DIY

First thing I did was arrange the greenery around the center part of the wreath using floral wire.

After I had a general round form completed, I added some more that stuck out a bit more to make it look more full.

Next I took an indigo tea towel and snipped a slit in the side about 2 inches from the edge and then ripped it completely off for about a 2”x20” piece.

Then I tied one edge to the wreath form and ran it through the wreath the way I liked it. I cut more strips to add to where I wanted more color. I ended up using four strips total.

Then I decided to add a natural touch with the wood beads. I used the floral wire again and just arranged them sporadically throughout the wreath.

I hung it on the door and was all done! You can see I also tied one of my edges in a little bow on the side. I wanted it a tad asymmetrical so that was my solution.

I don’t usually like color but this touch of color really makes me happy when I walk in my front door!
